Combined Session #IPE527, Interprofessional Team-Based Care of the Underserved - Recruiting, Training and Retaining the Next Generation of Caregivers: The CT AHEC/University of Connecticut’s Urban Service Track

DESCRIPTION
This workshop will introduce attendees to CT AHEC’s Urban Service Track as an example of interprofessional (IP) curricular development and implementation. The history and background of the program, IP coalition development, resource identification, scheduling and implementation will be discussed. Both didactic curriculum and IP clinical experiences will be reviewed.  


Session 2 - 2:45 - 3:15 pm
Combined Session #IPE575, Developing Interprofessional Education Opportunities in a Region Located Distant From the AHEC Program’s Medical School.

DESCRIPTION
This presentation will demonstrate how AHECs are the glue to interprofessional education, collaboration and practice. We will address the numerous logistical and academically political challenges to developing interprofessional student education opportunities with multiple academic partners in a geographic region distant from a medical school.
