Combined Session #HC588, Lowcountry Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Pipeline Connects

Lowcountry AHEC, in partnership with Medical University of South Carolina, implemented an interprofessional service learning project connecting Health Professions and Health Careers Program students.  The presentation will discuss the results of the pilot, specifically the impact the program has on increasing interest in health careers of underserved middle school students.

Combined Session #HC736, Teen Health Leadership Program: A life changing initiative for under-represented minority students

In this information age, the ability to recognize credible health websites is key to improving health literacy. The Teen Health Leadership pipeline program for rural high school students promotes health information literacy, engages students in designing and implementing community outreach activities that address local health concerns, and encourages health careers. This presentation follows a cohort of teens after high school graduation and measures program impact.
