Combined Session #HC515, The South Carolina AHEC Summer Careers Academy: Extending Learning Opportunities for Underrepresented and Underserved Students

The SC AHEC Summer Careers Academy strives to increase the number of under-represented minority and disadvantaged (URM) students who are accepted to and graduate from health training programs in South Carolina. This presentation explores strategies to develop sustainable partnerships for the implementation of statewide, outcome-driven programming for URM undergraduate students.

Combined Session #HC517, Recruitment and Retention of Future Health Professionals: Bridging a Gap in the Education Pipeline

The South Carolina AHEC Bench to Bedside initiative strives to increase the under-represented minority and disadvantaged student (URM) matriculation rates into health training programs and promote faculty mentoring through intercollegiate programming. This presentation explores the strategies and tools used for sustainable implementation of intercollegiate, research-based programming for URM undergraduate students.
